Community Wellbeing
After many years of working with young people and families as part of the NHS, Chloe found herself increasingly concerned about how our current culture seems to promote distress, as opposed to contentment. Whether it’s our disconnection from nature and community, a lack of purpose or a preoccupation with our virtual worlds, something isn’t working for us. If 1 in 5 young people have a ‘probable mental health disorder’, that isn’t an individual problem, but a societal one.
Chloe is interested in using her background as a Clinical Psychologist and Systemic Psychotherapist to consider how the Grange Project can serve the wellbeing needs of our local community. Whether in the provision of volunteering opportunities, a wilder natural space to spend time in or through bespoke workshops on related subjects, Chloe is passionate to understand how the Grange Project can start to influence a different way of connecting to nature and each other.
Where are we now?
Chloe is listening, reading and thinking - and having conversations with therapists and researchers already doing amazing work in this area. We’re hoping to launch a series of workshops in 2025, so whether you’re a change-maker trying to prevent burn-out, or an organisation keen to pause, reflect and grow in the context of an inspiring rewilding project, please hold us in mind.
What’s the next step?
Hopefully, celebrating our planning permission and beginning work on our modern barn conversion, so we have somewhere beautiful to host all these courses at the centre of the project. We’re also thinking about how we share stories of the impact of this project on community wellbeing, whether through formal research, testimonials or our own observations.
