What will I be doing?

There are a diverse range of tasks to get involved with this community day. Whether you’re interested in a physical challenge, construction or production, there is something for everyone.

Activities will include, but not limited to:

  • Physical Challenge - We will be scything the ‘wood meadow’ field, collecting all the green hay and distributing across the project. It’s a beautiful part of the site and we’re really excited to see how this new management approach influences the plant diversity.

  • Construction - We have a 15 x 9 metre polytunnel to erect in the market garden. This will enable us to significantly extend our growing season and produce certain crops more reliably throughout the year (tomatoes, aubergines and winter salad anyone?)

  • Production - We are fortunate to have 11 mature apple trees that have produced an amazing crop this year, and with the support of the Benthyg (Library of Things) we also have a scratter and press to make juice! Please bring bottles to take away as much as you can carry!

Are you providing refreshments?

Absolutely. We really value your time and know that providing a range of delicious and locally sourced home-cooked food will help morale to remain high! We also believe sharing food and drink together is an important part of connecting as a community. Vegan and vegetarian options will be provided as standard.

How do we get to you?

15 minutes drive from Monmouth and 20 minutes from Abergavenny along the B4233, plus we are more than happy to collect people from our nearest train station (Abergavenny).
